45 million records. Three decades of music. One unmistakable voice from the heart of Dublin.
Born 3 March 1977 · Swords, Dublin, Ireland
Born in Swords, County Dublin, Ronan Keating grew up as the youngest of five children in a close-knit family. His mother Marie and father Gerry nurtured his love of music from an early age, and Ronan was performing in local talent competitions before his teens. He attended Bayside Primary School and St. Fintan's High School in Sutton, Dublin.
At just sixteen, Ronan was working in a Dublin shoe shop when pop impresario Louis Walsh was auditioning for an Irish answer to Take That. Out of over 300 hopefuls, Ronan was chosen as lead vocalist for Boyzone — alongside Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch. Over five years Boyzone released four UK Number One albums, 16 top-three singles, and sold more than 25 million records worldwide.
In 1999, while still with Boyzone, Keating recorded "When You Say Nothing At All" for the Notting Hill soundtrack — debuting at UK Number One and launching a solo career that would produce a further 20 million record sales. He holds a Guinness World Record for 30 consecutive UK Top 10 singles. Beyond music, Ronan has hosted Magic Radio, The Voice Australia, The Voice Kids UK, and appeared on BBC One's New Year's Eve on 31 December 2025.
